Ditch diets & heal your relationship with food!

About Your Dietitian

Hey there! I’m Katie, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Certified Personal Trainer based in Colorado.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Fontbonne University and Master’s Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from Eastern Illinois University with an emphasis in Nutrition Education. (If you're interested in my credentials and area of expertise - scroll to the bottom of this page!)

I'm an INFJ personality type, so I feel deeply and lean into my intuition to help others and to find a deeper meaning in life.  I first became interested in nutrition after healing from an eating disorder as a teenager. After repairing my relationship with food and finding my way back to a truly healthy and sustainable diet and lifestyle - I knew it was my life's mission to help others heal their relationship with food too.

From there, I began to study nutrition. I learned about mindful eating, intuitive eating and functional nutrition. I learned how common and under-diagnosed eating disorders are, and how normalized disordered eating is in our mainstream media and social media environment.  I was dedicated to share with others my message, that "healthy eating" didn't have to mean dieting or extremes.

What does "Dark Blue" represent?

So where does the "Dark Blue" in "Dark Blue Nutrition" come from? That's a great question!

To any music lovers out there, the idea originated from a song "Dark Blue" by Jack's Mannequin (any Something Corporate or Jack's Mannequin fans in the house?) As a color nerd, the theme of "dark blue" stuck with me.

All colors have a certain energy to them, and I truly believe colors significantly impact our feelings and our mood. In the world of energies and chakras, the color dark blue is associated with our "third eye", e.g. our inner wisdom and intuition, hence how I found Dark Blue Nutrition to be so fitting!  I want others to learn how to tab into their inner wisdom when it comes to food and fueling their body.  Plus, I want nutrition to be something that can be fun, judgement-free and live-enhancing, rather than so restrictive that it's debilitating (what we often see encouraged from fitness influencers)!

What are your areas of specialty?

I specialize in helping active men & women heal the mental, physical and nutritional damage of dieting.  Whether you follow me on social media, or work with me through one of my programs, you'll see the topics of mindful & intuitive eating, food freedom, metabolic & nutritional rehabilitation, reverse dieting, and nutrition for better exercise performance come up again and again.

These topics are one's I have both personal and professional experience with - which is why I'm endlessly passionate about them!  It's also why they are the bread and butter of my coaching programs.  l've seen the amazing, life-changing impact a mindful and non-diet approach has on others - mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.  So I know it can change your life too!

I'm new here - what's the best way to get started?

Great question!  If you're not already following me on YouTube & Instagram - these are the platforms you'll see me on most often.  So for starters, follow and subscribe on both to stay connected & in the loop. You can expect weekly FREE content on both platforms.

Next, ask yourself, which one sounds more like you?

  • "I'm an independent, self-paced program kind of person who also loves group support.  It's just not in my budget or busy schedule to fit in 1:1 coaching right now."

  • Or, "I have the time & money to invest.  I am 100% ready to commit to the coaching process and I DO find I need and/or desire regular, consistent accountability from a coach to see consistent progress."

...P.S. - both are totally fine!! It's simply a matter of personal preference.

If you're Option #1 - start with my FREE training on Mindful Eating and Food Freedom for Beginners!

If you're Option #2 - Head on over to my coaching page and consider applying for 1:1 coaching.  I coach a select few 1:1 clients - so apply now before the nutrition coaching calendar fills up!

Now that you know a little about me, I'd love to hear from you!  If you have any questions about working together or joining one of my online nutrition or fitness programs, email me at darkbluenutrition@gmail.com.
