About Your RDN

   Hey there!  I'm Katie, Dietitian Nutritionist & Personal Trainer based in Evergreen, Colorado. My passion is to help you ditch restriction and make peace with food using mindful & intuitive eating. My biggest goal in my coaching and on my Youtube channel is to make nutrition topics relatable, easy to understand and fun!


 If you're a part of the DBN community on YouTube or Instagram, you might be curious to know a little more about me, your Dietitian Nutritionist!


For starters, I'm endlessly passionate about helping others embrace their intuition and make peace with food & exercise.  I want to be your helper and guide, rather than a Nutritionist who nit-picks, your diet. I won't tell you exactly what you can and can't eat, because I know the ultimate way to making peace with food is having acceptance and space for all food!


For those of you personality type nerds out there (like me!) my Meyer's Brigg's  personality type is an INFJ.  My biggest strengths are being endlessly driven, passionate and creative. I love helping others find their sweet spot with food, fitness and self-care, because these are all things I struggled with as a teen. Beyond nutrition and fitness, I'm a total cat lady, obsessed with painting my nails, and love a good cup of coffee (PSLs for the win!).


I first became interested in nutrition after making poor choices that drastically effected my health as a teenager.  I started reading about healthy eating and healthy habits for the mind and body and began to see drastic changes. I was genuinely amazed at how much balanced nutrition and making peace with food changed my life!  The foods you eat effect your energy, mood, your body's ability to handle stress...and so much more.  My #1 goal as your dietitian is to make nutrition simple and intuitive, so you can live your life in the healthiest way possible, without obsessing over it or letting in take over you life! 


  Dark Blue Nutrition offers something for every type of learner! You can get one-on-one nutrition coaching, the Mindful Muscles Nutrition Guide, and free content on my YouTube channel, Podcast and Blog. There's a little something for every type of learner! 

Nutrition Philosophies

 In a nutshell, I don't believe in having the "perfect diet".  It's all about balance!  Do I eat pizza? Cookies? Ice cream? Yep! Do I eat plenty of fruits and veggies and lean proteins? Absolutely! Do I always have a perfect balance in my life?  Nope! I'm human just like you.  I have a balanced relationship with food, and I love to encourage others to do the same.  I also strongly believe nutrition education should be accessible and understandable to all, which is where my YouTube Channel comes into play! We like to have fun (and learn at the same time) on the channel, so make sure to subscribe if you haven't already! 

So why "Dark Blue"?

So what significance does the color blue make? Where does "Dark Blue" come from? I get this question a lot, and it's a totally valid question! 


To any music lovers out there, the idea originated from a song "Dark Blue" by Jack's Mannequin (any Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin fans in the house?) As a color nerd, the theme of "dark blue" stuck with me.  It reminded me of peaceful and intuitive energy, and was something that resonated with the type of attitude that helped me heal my own relationship with food. 


All colors have a certain energy to them, and colors really impact our mood, and what we gravitate to. The color dark blue is commonly associated with a sense of calm, healing, peace and intuition. 


To me, everything about Dark Blue Nutrition radiates this energy! I want nutrition to be a topic that can be fun, judgement-free and communicated in a way that embraces openness and curiosity.
