Build a positive relationship with food and fitness.

About Your RDN

Hey there! I’m Katie, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Certified Personal Trainer.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Fontbonne University and Master’s Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from Eastern Illinois University with a focus in Nutrition Education.  As a Dietitian, I help individuals incorporate mindful & intuitive eating while reaching their health and fitness goals.  My goal is to make nutrition education fun and low-stress, while helping people develop a healthy relationship with food and avoid developing disordered eating habits.

As for my personal life, I’m originally from rural Illinois, and moved to Colorado in 2019 (and absolutely love it here)! I live in the mountains just outside of Denver with my fiance, and four fur-babies!

You might know me as a content creator on YouTube, and various platforms like Tiktok & Instagram!  I create educational nutrition and fitness videos for YouTube, am obsessed with painting my nails, learning from educational, self-improvement-focused podcasts and audiobooks, and snuggling with my furbabies! For those of you personality typing nerds (like me!) my Meyer's Brigg's  personality type is an INFJ.

I first became interested in nutrition after making poor choices that drastically effected my health as a teenager.  Once I began learning about nutrition and healthy habits, I experienced a mental and physical transformation that changed my life. I was genuinely amazed at how much balanced nutrition, mindfulness and an intuitive approach to eating transformed my relationship with food! My #1 goal as your dietitian is to make nutrition simple and intuitive, so you can live your life in the healthiest way possible, without obsessing over it or letting in take over you life!

Dark Blue Nutrition offers something for every type of learner! I offer virtual nutrition coaching, ebooks like the Mindful Muscles Nutrition Guide, and free content on my YouTube channel and Podcast. There's a little something for every type of learner!

So why "Dark Blue"?

Where does the "Dark Blue" come from in "Dark Blue Nutrition"? Great question!

To any music lovers out there, the idea originated from a song "Dark Blue" by Jack's Mannequin (any Something Corporate or Jack's Mannequin fans in the house?) As a color nerd, the theme of "dark blue" stuck with me.

All colors have a certain energy to them, and I truly believe colors significantly impact our feelings and our mood. The color dark blue is commonly associated with a sense of calm, healing, peace and intuition. Making peace with food, healing my relationship with food and using my intuition to guide my food decisions vs. a diet or quick fix, was what helped me helped me in my own relationship with food. For you, I want nutrition to be something that can be fun, judgement-free and communicated in a way that embraces openness and curiosity.

With love & good vibes,

        -Your RD,  Katie
